A New Season

Many of you have shared stories of ways you’ve found encouragement during this time of change in our Annual Conference and across the denomination. We’re grateful for those stories, for they speak to the intent of this website: to help us understand how to abide together now, in these challenging times. Little did we know our shared efforts would spill beyond the South Georgia area and be a sign of hope and a resource for clarity across the larger US connection.

We initially founded Abide wanting to encourage as many folks as possible to remain with The United Methodist Church. We truly believe we are better together and our many differences embody the image of a beautifully diverse garden. Many churches and beloved sisters and brothers have chosen to depart rather than remain, and while we bless them as they go, we also see a need to refocus our efforts as a website.

As a result, Abide will focus on what’s next for those who have chosen to remain together as United Methodists. Mindful of John 15:4, “Abide in me and I will abide in you,” we aim to tell the stories of what’s happening across our Annual Conference and Jurisdiction, showing where God is moving and active, celebrating faithful and fruitful ministry.

Be on the lookout for new pieces coming soon, featuring stories from around the Annual Conference! More to come.
